Master Plan for the Island of Mozambique
The Master Plan consisted of an integrated and sustainable development programme for the island as a World Heritage Site, and its coastal area (target area).
In this context, the rehabilitation of historic monuments was a catalyst for the promotion of an integrated development of the whole area of influence, facilitating the creation of small businesses that generate jobs and income for local communities, thus contributing to the fight against poverty.
The strategic planning exercise was largely based on the conservation and enhancement of heritage, the development and rehabilitation of infrastructures and social services, and the development and promotion of business and employment.
