Assistance to the General Directorate of Roads and Land Transport
The techcnical assistance focused on two components:
- the operation of the General Directorate of Roads and Land Transport (DGVTT) as the body responsible for managing the road sector;
- the legal and regulatory of the road transport sector.
In the first stage, a diagnosis of the operation of the DGVTT was carried out, including the existing technical and material resources, revenues and costs, as well as an analysis of the road sector legal framework and the identification of the adjustments needed to ensure harmonisation with the standards of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA).
In the second stage, guidelines were established to improve the operation of the DGVTT, in the form of a Strategic Plan, an Action Plan and manuals of internal procedures. The sector’s legal and regulatory framework was also updated, including the Road Law and main regulations.
