CESO has been implementing, since the beginning of this year, the Platform for the implementation of the European Union's External Investment Plan in Palestine.
The intervention aims to deepen and improve the priorities and coordination of interventions related to the aforementioned European Union External Investment Plan (PIE) in Palestinian territory, through a political dialogue with the most relevant stakeholders, namely Palestinian Authorities, private sector, donors international and international financial institutions. In this sense, all stakeholders will be involved in the discussions and in the identification of common opportunities, so that the same level of commitment from all parties can be ensured.
It is also intended to improve the understanding of Palestinian investment and the financial markets, for which it will proceed with the preparation of Market Studies analyzing the dynamics of the markets and the consequent impact of the global pandemic on the Palestinian financial sector, mobilizing for this in-depth research the priority areas recommended in the political dialogue, the identification of investment possibilities for financial instruments within the scope of the referred PIE and, still, the intervention needs related to investments, in order to detect the main challenges and obstacles to their implementation. In this way, conclusions will be presented on the strengths and weaknesses of the financial and investment sectors, including the identification of intervention measures.
In order to promote greater knowledge about the opportunities that the PIE provides to the general public, the private sector, public authorities and the international community, Technical Assistance will support a publicity campaign, with a set of publicity events being planned in various locations in the territory, notably in Ramallah, Hebron, Nablus, East Jerusalem and Gaza. In this context, meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences, production and distribution of promotional materials are planned for the business community, financial institutions and the general public.
Financed by the European Commission, the Platform Project for the Implementation of the EU's Foreign Investment Plan in Palestine started its activities this year, and is expected to be concluded in July 2022.
