The President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff and the Presidents of the European Council, Van Rompuy, and European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, “emphasize the consistent strengthening of the ties between Brazil and the EU” in the Joint Declaration signed at the end of the VI Brazil-Eu Summit in Brasilia in January this year.
The leaders welcomed the progress of the Strategic Partnership and expressed their satisfaction with the development of the bilateral Sectorial Dialogues currently involving some 30 different areas.
CESO provides technical assistance and logistic backing to the project "Support to the EU-Brazil Sector Dialogues" coordinated jointly by the Brazilian Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management and the Delegation of the European Union in Brazil.
The project is based on a compromise between Brazil and the European Union, within the framework of the bilateral relationship, establishing a mechanism for high-level political consultations in order to deepen the discussion of issues of common interest in international agenda.
The new phase of the EU-Brazil Sector Dialogues will benefit from additional EU financing of 5.5 million Euros.
