CESO integrated the consortium that recently started delivering the “Low Carbon Business Action in Brazil” project, one of the implementation actions promoted through the Partnership Instrument under the EU-Brazil Strategic Partnership.
This action will start by promoting matchmaking between Brazilian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and European providers low emission technologies, across several economic sectors and multiple locations across Brazil. In a second phase, these strategic partnerships shall materialise in concrete joint project proposals leading to commercial relations and transactions.
This will be achieved by a set of activities and results, structured along 4 key components:
1. Mapping of low emission initiatives in targeted sectors in Brazil to identify technological needs.
2. Identification and mobilization of potential interested partners in Brazil and Europe in the targeted sectors, to result in Declarations of Interest in cooperating with European counterparts;
3. Organisation of matchmaking activities, to establish formalised Cooperation Partnership agreements.
4. Definition and implementation of an information campaign to sensitize public officials, private sector stakeholders and the general public on international best practice in the fields of low carbon technology and its economic and environmental benefits.
In recent years, Brazil has been pursuing low-carbon developments. Significant results in terms of emissions reductions have already been achieved in some areas, especially in deforestation. Nevertheless, there is a need for a more robust green growth approach to complement the country’s development planning.
The “Low Carbon Business Action in Brazil” should therefore be a contribution towards this goal, and will complement other ongoing actions under the EU-Brazil Strategic Partnership.
This EU funded project is being implemented by a consortium lead by GFA Consulting Group (Germany), with CESO (Portugal), Nixus (Spain) and EQO (Spain). It will end at March 2018.
