The new contract associated with phase III of the EU-Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Facility puts into practice the sector dialogues agreed at the political level, based on demand driven activities from the Brazilian Ministries and Federal Agencies in articulation with their corresponding EU Directorates-General and Agencies.
On the 11th of March 2015 the 8th Call for Proposals was formally launched; a new call for the beneficiaries to present applications for short term technical actions to be implemented between June 2015 and June 2016. CESO’s Executive Administrator, Helena Valente, and Technical Director, Rita Araújo, participated on the launching event.
At the opening ceremony, the EU Ambassador to Brazil, Ana Paula Zacarias, expressed confidence on the capacity of these technical actions to have an impact on bilateral relations at a Political level.
Representing the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the counselor João Marcelo Montenegro Pires also congratulated the good and functional structure of the Facility, and the competent end efficient conduction of the Project to date. The counselor stressed that “this set of actions represents a new way to do diplomacy, seeking to engage the whole government in activities of foreign policy”.
This new contract follows a successful phase II, implemented by the consortium also led by CESO since 2011. During that period, 28 agencies of the Brazilian civil service and 23 European counterparts were involved in specific dialogue activities over a wide range of thematic areas: from Environmental issues to Public Sector Governance, Human Rights, Regional Integration, Science and Technology, Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Cohesion and Employment, Energy Policy, Intellectual Property, Climate Change and Rural Development, among others.
The new consortium is formed by FIIAPP, INA (former partners in the early phase of the project) and CEPS.
